A late-autumn outfit diary and links to CBK-inspired outerwear.
If you partake in the Outfit Notes subscriber chat, then you know I’ve had outerwear on my mind lately. Spurred by classic Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy pap shots relentlessly served to me via my Pinterest algorithm, I’ve felt called on to “complete” (whatever that means!) my outerwear collection these past few weeks. Specifically, I’ve been interested in finding late 90s/early 2000s classic black wool coats, belted trenches, and anything with a fur-trimmed collar.
I’ve set up the appropriate search feeds on The RealReal app and kept a close eye on some of my favorite vintage retailers. In November, I purchased a vintage dark brown shearling jacket from Maj Kiosk (more on that below) and have bought and returned three different black wool coats over the past few weeks—the early 2000s Prada wool coat linked at the end looks like a perfect contender, I may regret sharing it. My outerwear quest is not finished (will it ever be?) but in the meantime, I’ve enjoyed reintroducing a beloved brown wool coat into my wardrobe again and the addition of my Maj Kiosk vintage shearling jacket. Here’s what I’ve been wearing lately…
OUTFIT 1
Vocavaca brown wool coat: I bought this last year and forgot just how much I loved it until I pulled it out again a few weeks ago. The nipped-in waist and voluminous sleeves create such a beautiful shape, this coat truly is the outfit.

Where I wore it: I wore this outfit on the drive up to New York last month and kept it on for an afternoon of walking around Cobble Hill followed by a casual dinner at a wine bar (Pips, if you’re wondering). I love the combination of ballet-inspired shoes with track pants and have clocked miles walking around in this outfit.
