Four outfits I'm packing for a weekend trip to New York. 💌
My birthday is this month, and I typically like to go away for the night to celebrate. This year, we’re heading to New York for the weekend. In addition to my requisite outfit note (which you know I started as soon as the hotel was booked), I have a list of far-too-many restaurants, wine bars, museums, and shops I’d like to get in while I’m there. I hope to get to half of it. In the meantime, here’s what I’m packing for a quick weekend trip…
OUTFIT 1
Mare Perpetua ‘lume’ tank: Currently sold out, but she does occasionally do restocks.
FEEL studios genuine jean in blue ozone: Worn two sizes too big and high on the waist.
MNZ Pablo belt
Maison Margiela tabi slingbacks: I resisted these for a long time. I grew weak to the slingback style, sweet little bow, and lovely cream hue, so here we are. I am considering these a very generous birthday treat to myself.
Vintage leather trench via Maj Kiosk
Vintage Chanel PVC tote: This one is still available via eBay!
Where I’d wear it: For an afternoon of perusing vintage shops before meeting up with friends for dinner in Brooklyn.

Vintage leather boots via Vestiaire Collective: A pair of unbranded boots I found while searching “leather riding boots” on the app one day.
Vintage Chanel PVC tote
Where I’d wear it: To hit up some favorite spots (lunch at Dimes, Salter House, MNZ’s Los Feliz pop-up, etc.) and walk around.

Vintage Banana Republic bag via eBay: Searching “black leather bag with white stitching” yields lots of results you’ll need to parse through if looking for something similar. I like this Etienne Aigner version (for just $12), this $10 unbranded bag, or this Fossil bag with silver hardware.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh Olympia wedge via TRR: There are a million versions of these floating around the internet, here is a pair in white (37.5 EU) and yellow (36 EU); I see them pop up on The RealReal frequently, but they sell quickly, so your best bet is to set up a saved search and wait.

Where I’d wear them: The outfit on the right is what I want for my birthday dinner (Casino) but it might be better in theory than practice; I don’t love how the hem of the dress cuts into the pants when I walk. So, I’m bringing the black knit vintage Chloé dress on the left (as it takes up virtually no space) to pair with other items I’m packing.
Since I plan on wearing my FEEL jeans and leather trench on the drive up, everything packs up quite nicely with room to spare. I’m leaving plenty of room in my suitcase to bring home a birthday treat or two.
On an unrelated note, as if on cue with a birthday around the corner, I pulled something in my back lifting my three-year-old recently—a humbling reminder of turning 36. I had planned to put this newsletter out mid-month but a lack of mobility prevented me from getting it together in time.
