December Outfits

Investing in outerwear and a pair of vintage Prada pumps.

Every time the weather shifts dramatically, I’m thrown for a loop when getting dressed, even though I’ve been through this for decades. Mild weather is coming to a close (sort of), so I took it upon myself to invest in some outerwear that’s been missing from my closet. Specifically, a wool structured coat in the most perfect shade of deep brown. I also placed an order from Maj Kiosk’s November drop: a black leather trench with brown stitching that is on its way to me.

Ok, let’s get dressed…

OUTFIT 1 (left)

• Maryam Nassir Zadeh dance pants: I found a very similar color for you, available at Carmen Amsterdam.

• Poplin blue button down: This one is from Zara last summer, but a search on eBay for something similar seems very fruitful. This mens shirt (or this) would do the trick and this Jil Sander version seems like something you’d spot in an early season of Sex and the City.

• Brooke Callahan black flower belt: This belt is my party trick for outfits. If you’re considering one of her pieces, I encourage you to follow Brooke for restocks as they sell out quickly (she does incredible vintage accessory drops too).

• MNZ Olympia wedge via TRR: My favorite shoes to wear with these pants. I’ll wear with socks when the weather requires it.

• Vintage black leather bag via eBay: A 90s Banana Republic flap bag I found while searching eBay one day for black leather bags with white stitching. I love this Miu Miu bag and this Furla baguette.

Where I’d wear it: To a work event or holiday party that’s on the casual side (but I’d swap in a white button down for the latter).

OUTFIT 2 (right)

• Paloma Wool brown mini skirt pants: Still very much loving these trousers.

• The Line by K black ‘becks short sleeve’ top: A very well cut t-shirt that makes for an interesting take on a basic.

• Vintage brown Prada pumps via TRR: While I patiently wait for Paloma Wool to release my dream boots, I noticed another pair of shoes used for styling on the site (but also not for sale yet) that inspired me to search for pointy Prada pumps on TRR. I landed on this brown suede pair; I love the color, obviously, and the silver buckle detail. I’ll wear these with brown socks when it’s too cold for bare skin.

• Vintage black leather bag via eBay

Where I’d wear it: I’d wear this to dinner, or to grab a martini somewhere.

OUTFIT 3 (left)

• Vocavaca Brown wool coat: Full disclosure, I saw this on Reese Blutstein and ordered it instantly. It’s the perfect shade of deep brown and was exactly what I’d been looking for.

• Brown sweatpants: This pair is from Aritzia, but the color bleeds so badly that I don’t recommend them. Los Angeles Apparel has a similar style (but learn from my mistake and wash them on their own first to see if the dye fades).

• Hoka Clifton 8: I wore my first pair into disrepair and recently replaced them. They are the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever owned.

• Vintage Chanel patchwork tote: You know the one.

• Vintage brown cashmere sweater: Worn over shoulders as a scarf (I need a scarf, stay tuned).

Where I’d wear it: I threw this on the other day to run to the wine store to pick up Thanksgiving necessities (hence the baby cameo). It’s my current go-to for running errands when I’m freezing but want to look put together, but not too put together, and it will remain in the rotation this December.

OUTFIT 4 (right)

• TheOpen Product white tie shirt: Sadly no longer available.

• Narciso Rodriguez leather blazer via The Real Real

• Maryam Nassir Zadeh dance pants

• Find Kapoor patti bag in crinkled butter: Simply a very good 90s style bag.

• MNZ Olympia wedge via TRR

Where I’d wear it: Another ‘going to dinner’ outfit for the books.

OUTFIT 5 (left)

• FEEL studios genuine jean in blue ozone: Wearing my actual size here (one day I’ll tell the story about how I bought a few pairs of FEEL jeans postpartum and then had to re-purchase in new sizes once I returned to my pre-baby size).

• Brown Prada pumps via The Real Real

• extreme cashmere Blue n°230 Tank Top: I had been considering this top since the summer, and jumped on it when I saw it marked down on Ssense.

• Vocavaca Brown wool coat

• Vintage Chanel PVC tote

Where I’d wear it: I love the combo of brown and light blue in this outfit; the heels are sensible enough that I’d wear it nearly anywhere.

OUTFIT 6 (right)

• The Garment Copenhagen cashmere dress: No longer available, but this brand has some incredibly beautiful knits if you’re in the market.

• Vintage Furla leather purse via Maj Kiosk

• Comme Si ‘Agnelli’ sock in chili

• Brooke Callahan black flower belt

Where I’d wear it: To the ballet, which I’m headed to in a few weeks. I love the combination of red, charcoal and black.
